WhatCulture! Attends Special Jason Statham Look-A-Like BLITZ Screening!

Our very own Harry Roth, who we swear is a long lost brother of The Stath, attended a very special Blitz screening with a twist!

(Apologies for the delay in posting this, my editor's fault for going on holiday!) Last week saw the release of Blitz on Blu-ray and DVD. If you€™re not aware, it€™s the latest outing from Jason €˜The Stath€™ Statham, who is fast becoming a genre in his own right. In order to celebrate this, the crazy PR Team behind the release decided to hold a special screening of the film last Thursday in London€™s Soho. However this was no free for all. Oh no, there was one key condition for entry: you had to bear a passing resemblance to the man himself. Now sadly, despite not hitting the grand old age of 30 yet, my hair has already upped and left, leaving me with no other way of ever looking cool unless I try and emulate the look of the great man himself. So, with my designer stubble at optimum levels, and being the only blogger at WhatCulture with a fighting chance of getting in, off I went to man the hell up. To be truthful, it was a funny old night and at moments I was unsure if I€™d stumbled into a €˜Right Said Fred€™ fan convention by mistake, but no sooner had the film started, and Statham made his first appearance, our testosterone levels quickly hit the dizzy heights of those of the action hero himself. Without a shadow of a doubt, Blitz is a must see for all Statham fans, serving up exactly what you would hope from a film bearing his name. It certainly holds up as a genuine British action film, too, as some of the sequences wouldn€™t look out of place in something from the other side of the Atlantic. Sure, there are those out there for whom this will not be their cup of tea, but they€™ll know to steer clear from the start. Though I suspect that even they would take their hats off and tip the film for its ambition. You can read our original review of Blitz HERE. You can read our recent interview with Jason Statham HERE.
