A little over two years ago, The Farrelly Brothers had seemingly pulled off the impossible in landing A-list talent Sean Penn, Benicio del Toro and Jim Carrey to lead their broad, slapstick comedy movie, based on the mid 20th century vaudeville act The Three Stooges. However due to various problems, probably actor unrest, the movie slowly collapsed over the coming years and once one of the above talent bailed on the project, it caused a domino effect that saw them all depart. Now, Deadline reports that Will & Grace alumni and C-list actor Sean Hayes has just been cast as Larry, joining E-list actor Will Sasso, who was recently set as Curly. At this point, the chances of you knowing who Moe is - probably only 50/50. I'm racking my brain to find where the interest lies in this Three Stooges remake, which we know will be contemporaised and based around three separate shorts, which sounds particularly daft to me. Self contained stories within movies are always tough to sit through. There was some intrigue, perhaps in the way you stare at the wreckage of a car crash, in the A-list talent that was previously interested but with these nobodies... who cares when they start hitting each other around? It's going to be Dumb and Dumberer and Dumbererer, with awkward, night-club quality imitations of an act that totally belongs in yesteryear.
