Zack Snyder's director's cut of Justice League has been highly anticipated by DCEU fans, with the four hour movie set to bring the Batman v Superman director's vision of the ill-fated 2017 film to life. One aspect of the film fans are excited for is the addition of Jared Leto's Joker, who was last seen in David Ayer's infamous Suicide Squad from 2016.

While a tease of what Leto's appearance in the film would be was released by Snyder a week ago, the first image was rather blurred. Clear images of the Clown Prince of Crime have now released exclusively through Vanity Fair though, revealing a very different look for Leto than the gangster appearance he had in Suicide Squad, with no tattoos or accessories on the outfit.

This time around Joker has much longer and darker hair than the slicked back style seen in Suicide Squad. Leto's Joker looks a lot more ragged and edgy in this image, wearing a dirty hospital gown and looking as though he is wearing more makeup. It's reminiscent of Heath Ledger's interpretation of the Joker from The Dark Knight, with the eye shadow and added red lipstick.

The biggest difference is the lack of tattoos on Leto, particularly the absence of the "damaged" tattoo on the character's forehead. When asked about the lack of tattoos by Vanity Fair, Snyder gave an answer that didn't really clear things up:

“I would say that there’s been some water under the bridge. Who knows what’s happened... I don’t know if he’s wearing makeup, I don’t know what’s happening. It’s hard to say exactly.”

Snyder also promised that his Justice League film would give fans of the DC Extended Universe the chance to finally see Jared Leto's Joker interact with Ben Affleck's Batman, something that fans have wanted to see since the two characters were cast.

“The cool thing about the scene is that it’s Joker talking directly to Batman about Batman... It’s Joker analyzing Batman about who he is and what he is. That’s the thing I also felt like fans deserved from the DC Universe. That is to say, the Jared Leto Joker and the Ben Affleck Batman, they never really got together. It seemed uncool to me that we would make it all the way through this incarnation of Batman and Joker without seeing them come together.”

While the Joker's role in Zack Snyder's Justice League will only be a short one, Bat fans are sure to appreciate the one-on-one time the character will get with the Dark Knight. Snyder's Justice League will also provide fans with a glimpse of Harry Lennix's character from Man of Steel, where he'll reveal himself as the Martian Manhunter, and even an appearance from the Green Lantern too.
