In a zombie apocalypse, a bow is going to save you a whole lot of noisy trouble. When a torch needs dousing and a magic gate needs opening. When a dragon has taken to the sky, out of sword€™s reach. When a hill needs burning and a giant needs tickling. Great virtual bows and arrows definitely have their time and place. Technically, we€™re still shooting, but there€™s something warm and oaky about archery when compared to gunplay. It ages well, in cinema, television and video games alike. Of course, in games, we ARE the archer and the physical factors we must consider mean everything. More often than not, our aim must account for arc, distance and lead - each assessment made simultaneously. The slightest slip, and we€™ve lost a precious arrow to an errant tree trunk or castle guard€™s knee. We€™ve always loved sneaking to a sniper€™s vantage point, accounting for our trajectory and seeing a projectile visibly connect with its target.
