10 Biggest Reasons No One Cares About Playing Video Games Online

By Brandon Maxwell /

It's two in the morning on Saturday and you finally have yourself some free time. You hit up a couple of your buddies but all of them are out partying or already in bed. So what do you do now? There's nothing good on TV, you've read the front page on Reddit 10 times now and you can't stand the sight of your social network feed any longer. Then you hear the call. "Come play with me." You obey. In goes your favorite shooter in the disc tray. You mindlessly blow through the countless menus and fire up a game of multiplayer. In record time you've already lost mercilessly and fought back tears from the tongue lashing you just received from a 12-year-old with extreme ADHD. Then it all comes flooding back to you. These are the reasons you never play online games in the first place. Multiplayer has never reached its full potential. Yes, it is getting far better than it used to be, but it's still just not there yet. These are some of the reasons why no one cares about online games and what they need to improve on.

10. Communication

Sure, there are options for voice chats and yes there are ways to send text messages, but the communication system in online games is flawed at best. Sending a text based message to someone with a controller is an ordeal that takes a lifetime to complete. Buying a text pad for the 360 is one alternative, but no one really wants to spend good money on such a difficult device to use. Then there are the headsets. The good ones are expensive, but a cheap model won't last. Both have their pros, but in the end it will always be a loss.

All the times where a teammate sends important information to another comrade should be seamless at this point. Finding a decent microphone would be easy if it didn't hit bank accounts where it hurts. Going the affordable route means sounding like you are using a potato in a wind turbine when you speak. Picking a side never seemed so difficult. Don't even get started on how ugly they look either, as that in itself is a never-ending discussion. While this is a reason that causes people not to care about online games, it's not exactly a deal breaker either, so that is why communication sits at number 10 on this list.
