10 Epic Video Games You Probably Never Finished

On paper, there is nothing quite as appealing as a video game epic. The thought of being able to turn the cost of a new game into an investment of weeks or months of your free time is how most people define getting your money's worth.

Yet, how often do most gamers actually get the chance to finish these epic gaming experiences? The further you get from the near unlimited leisure time of childhood, the harder it becomes to find the hours needed to beat the most substantial titles around.

You may start one of these daunting video games - and even put a sizeable dent in them - but sure enough, there will come that day when life hands you just enough obligations (or even just a better game to play) and you'll leave it sitting on the shelf for months accompanied by a vague promise of "someday."

On the other hand, bigger isn't always better, and many titles end up throwing that kitchen sink at themselves, meaning for one reason or another you'll tap out far before the developers intended. 10. Fuel

Do we really need epic racing games? Is that a genre that really lends itself to a grand scale journey?

At least as far as Fuel is concerned, it matters not. The world of Fuel covers over 5,000 square miles, which sounds impressive - and kind of is from a technical standpoint - but many that start playing the game soon find that there is simply no need for a racing game to be that size. This is especially evident if you try to actually complete the game's largest courses, which take you from one end of the world to the other, but even shorter journeys are quick to reveal Fuel's wonky mechanics that are a considerable step below the best of the genre.

The game's outlandish size was a siren call for many gamers looking for a massive amount of content, but others discovered it to be a gimmick long before diving too deep into the experience.
