10 Magical Items In Dungeons And Dragons That Every Party Should Have

Its not all about flaming swords and the best armour, sometimes it's the little things that matter.

Dungeons and Dragons is full of hundreds of unique magical items. Some of these items are quite basic, a weapon dealing an extra D6 fire damage or armour that is resistant to cold. Other items are only meant for one class or playstyle, but there are some items that are useful to everyone.

These items are special, they are the kind of items that every party needs. They may help to keep the party alive or easily solve a common problem, either way, you need to get your hands on these items. However just to be clear, this list isn’t going to talk about great and powerful items that can destroy your enemies (don't worry we'll cover that in another list) as mostly these items will be fairly mundane by comparison to the likes of a mace that has the soul of a devil and turns foes to ash, but that doesn’t make them any less useful.

As is that mace going to make sure you don't bleed out after being stabbed by a goblin? Is it going to help you carry all that other loot you've picked up? NO of course not, but these 10 items will! So play smart and get your hands on these as soon as possible.

10. Immovable Rod

This at first may seem a rather silly item, as simply put, it is only a rod that cannot be moved. This however is one of those items that need some imagination to make it truly useful. When a small button is activated on the side of the rod, it becomes magically fixed in place. This rod can take an amazing 8,000 pounds worth of weight before failing, wow! Can it be moved by a character? Well yes but also no, as it requires a DC 30 Strength check to do so. That means that a character with full strength rolling a natural 20 still couldn’t move it, it would take the effort of some sort of god to move this item.

How is this item useful though? First, well let’s look at the more minor applications. If your party was trying to barricade a door, this would work fantastically, your enemies would only get through when they actually break the door to pieces. The items could also be used to defeat an enemy, imagine a giant monster bearing down on you at full steam just hitting this thing, Ow.

If you want to think outside the box, there is another use. If you could somehow get your hands on two of these then you have an infinite ladder, it will probably only work for one person but it could still get you out of a jam.
