E3 is done, dusted and resigned to the annals of history, but we're not done celebrating all the monumentally awesome things that went down.

Certain old school (or long dead) franchises roared back into life, long-awaited sequels were confirmed, rumoured properties were snatched up Civil War-style, signing to one platform or another - and there were even a few new consoles unveiled, too.

Indeed, having the eyes of the world on your event prompts those in charge to roll out their finest surprises, and whilst you can expect a ton of coverage for every major game going forward, here's a rundown of the finest moments from across the entire show.

19. Crash Bandicoot's Retur- Resurrection

Sony

At this point the shambling corpse of Crash Bandicoot had been given tribal tattoos and all manner of forced game mechanics to get him walking again, but to no avail. Best of them though, was leading into E3 we saw all manner of tweets, Sony officials wearing T-shirts of the orange marsupial and leaked mention of him from stockists, indicating an all-new Crash was in the works.

Nope! Instead, Sony announced the original trilogy was getting a full remaster instead, yet didn't say a word as to how that would work. Are Naughty Dog's titles and the game engine within forming the basis for what's to come? Were they even consulted on it? Can such an old game be pilfered of assets and rebuilt whilst maintaining what it 'feels' like to play Crash?

Who knows. I don't even think Activision know at this point, as it REEKS of 2015's "Hey Square, just rebuild Final Fantasy VII, okay?" announcement from that year's E3.

Time will tell, but people are still justifiably stoked beyond belief.
