Is there any series out there quite like the Souls series? With their foreboding atmospheres, deadly enemies and strong learning curve, they're a series both critically and commercially acclaimed for a reason.

Games in the Dark Souls series and beyond - such as Bloodborne and Sekiro - are also home to some many unique elements and feelings. As established in our original article here, there's so many things in Dark Souls you'd only get if you've experienced the games first-hand.

Who hasn't realised already that cliffs are perhaps the true enemy of these games? Or who hasn't experienced the all-out, balls-to-the-wall crystal lizard scramble already? What about not trusting chests, because there could be a mimic lurking in there, ready to eat your head - or the importance of regular, relentless sun praising?

While we've already established some of these things already, it's time once again to rekindle your bonfire, dust off your pointless pendant and stock up on purple moss clumps (gotta survive those poison areas!). It's time to divulge into another selection of the finest things only Dark Souls fans would understand.

20. Dying When The Boss Has The Smallest Fraction Of Health Left

YES! YES! I’m about to actually beat this absolute *!&#!! Once and for all!

GODAMN IT! *Throws controller though TV screen*

While dying to any boss in a game is terrible, especially when they’ve got the teeniest, tiniest smidgeon of health left, doing it in Dark Souls is 100% the absolute worst.

You’ve probably already faced said boss at least thirteen times before this happens. You’ve gone through all the stages – being owned repeatedly, then moved on to chipping away lightly at its health, then thought you’d telegraphed all the bosses’ moves, then moved on to finally being confident that THIS IS THE TIME.

It’s all going well. You’re dodging at the right times. You’re blocking at the right moments. You’ve attacking whenever you can, and that health bar is dropping down slowly but surely.

Then, before you know it, the boss is down to about 1% health. You coil yourself, ready to strike, and the boss casually swats you aside like a fly and you’re greeted with YOU DIED once again.

The. Worst.
