It has LONG been said in video games that the industry has a hype problem.

While games themselves can be ludicrously complex combinations of teamwork and technical prowess, in the upper echelons of production there's a tight hold on the financial side of things. Announcing a project way too early or over-monetising its release to profit as much as possible afterwards can often spell disaster.

It's a tough thing to get right and we consumers have bore some unbelievably broken products along the way.

That said, though we seem to be getting better with companies not revealing their next titles until a reasonable release date is within view, there are scores of games announced during the 8th generation that are scheduled to drop across 2021... yet that clearly is no longer the case.

With the harsh reality of needing to please shareholders trumping the desires of fans, projects need to be flagged years upon years ahead of launch, creating the situation that many of the following find themselves in.
