I am eagerly anticipating Watch Dogs, the upcoming release from UbiSoft featuring an open world Chicago layered with the premise of the ability to hack via your mobile phone any aspect of the city's infrastructure and inhabitants. This idea is so simple, as in our daily lives our mobile phones have approximate control over a fair amount of our activities, and its aplication to an open world game is more than ambitious. While the hacking aspect is beyond illegal, our current smartphones have a number of apps that, when used in unison, may give a fairly accurate representation of the main UI of Watch Dogs available now for you to try. Here are some of the best approximations of Watch Dogs features which can be downloaded onto most current iOS and Android devices. Enjoy!
9. Wikitude
AR grids and HUD systems have been implemented in video gaming almost from day one. Most bulkware maplications allow you to see whre you are at any given time but where Wikitude shines is in its accurate heads up display of all noteworthy places of interest around your location. Opening the camera will present yu with a current view with icons directing you to sights and resturants as well as anywhre else you'd care to program in. Using the map will show you nearby Facebook, Twitter, Flikr and other social media updates, plugging you directly into the digital world around you.
