In just a few short months assassins all over the world will be jumping, climbing and stabbing their way through colonial America in the massively anticipated Assassins Creed 3. With a brand new setting, new characters, new mechanics and a whole host of other features AC3 is one game everyone should be looking forward to. I'm excited, seriously excited and here's why you should be too...

1. It Looks In-Freaking-Credible
I was lucky enough to see the game in action at Game's Nottingham store last week and while I wasn't allowed to actually play it (despite my persistent requests) I was blown away by just how good it looks, the footage available on the internet does not do it justice. From the crisp white snow of the New England frontier to the stunning crystal sea of the Caribbean and the bustling Boston waterfront all of the environments are richly detailed and an absolute joy to behold. The attention to detail is astounding, whether it's Connor's intricate weapons, or the sun glinting off the badge of a British soldier, everything looks painstakingly crafted with an eye for even the smallest of details. Almost all of the animations have been built from scratch for AC3 with very few being recycled from previous games and they all look brilliant. The new combat animations are superb, flowing effortlessly from enemy to enemy with each strike makes every fight look like a perfectly choreographed scene from an action movie. The way our new protagonist Connor runs effortlessly through trees and across buildings, fluidly moving from A to B seems to be a real improvement on the sometimes clunky looking movement from previous AC titles and I can't wait to see it in action first hand. The Creed games have never looked bad but 3 is seriously stepping things up a notch with the new 'AnvilNext' engine. With all new lighting tools, dynamic weather cycling and the ability to render huge thousand-man battles we can expect some real spectacle from AC3.
