Assassin's Creed 4: 10 Amazing Hidden Easter Eggs & Secrets You Need To Find

By Simon Gallagher /

The game is stuffed with collectibles and secrets, and once you've come to grips with those, as well as the main story missions and side missions (there's a lot of content in there) you might start to notice some of the Easter Eggs that pepper the game. There are some immediately noticable fan-service nods, such as the inclusion of three key outfits from former Assassin's Creed games, but they don't really qualify as Easter Eggs (if you have a save from a previous AC game, you will automatically be able to unlock the outfits when you have access to the personal quarters on the Jackdaw.) And then of course there's the name of Kenway's ship - the Jackdaw - itself, which clearly references the Aesop's Fable The Eagle & The Jackdaw about the latter's attempting to ape the behaviour of the former. But it's the more obscure references and the more difficult to find nods that we're most interested in here, so we've put together a list of the most eye-catching Easter Eggs in Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag that you really need to find.

Honourable Mention

Accidental Porn Reference?Image source. It probably wasn't intentional, but there is an uncanny likeness between Black Flag lead character Edward Kenway, and Edward Reynolds, pirate-hunting star of the Pirates porn parody that heavily riffs on The Pirates Of The Caribbean, who was played by porn actor Evan Stone. Perhaps Ubisoft were fans, or wanted to poke a little bit of fun at POTC, but whatever the actual truth, it's hard to resist that likeness.
