Finally, this is the year it's coming; what'll easily be one of the greatest achievements not only for Rocksteady as a game studio, but for superhero video games in general and the Batman mythos overall.
No pressure, then.
So far everything's lining up nicely, and although a certain wide-grinned maniac doesn't seem to be making an appearance, there's a cavalcade of others ranging from Harley Quinn to Two Face, The Penguin and Scarecrow to fill in. Only time will tell if you can do a downright fantastic Batman story without his arch rival, but being that one of the greatest modern story arcs is Jeff Loeb's Hush, there's definitely precedent for one.
Outside of pondering on things like Joker showing up or just who exactly the Arkham Knight himself is, one of the most brilliant things Rocksteady unveiled after the last major showing of new footage, was that almost everything released so far was in-game.
You could already tell from the smattering of screenshots out already that their newest effort was quite the looker, but the fact that those photo-real stills that first showed the game off will be playable? That was a holy moly-moment on the level of Resident Evil's first Gamecube remaster.
So in celebration of everything related to Arkham Knight that's worth seeing - and to fuel the excite-furnace that little bit more - it's worth taking some time to really appreciate what'll surely be a Game of the Year contender.
40. The Perfect Batman Image
Everything about this is brilliant, from the shining beacon of hope that the Bat symbol should be, to the look of authority on Jim Gordon's face as the moon backs a handshake that'll protect a doomed city.
