Batman: Arkham Origins Announced - Rocksteady Aren't Developing

By Patrick Dane /

Developed by WB Games Montréal, Batman: Arkham Origins features an expanded Gotham City and introduces an original prequel storyline set several years before the events of Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City, the first two critically acclaimed games of the franchise. Taking place before the rise of Gotham City€™s most dangerous criminals, the game showcases a young and unrefined Batman as he faces a defining moment in his early career as a crime fighter that sets his path to becoming the Dark Knight. As the story unfolds, players will meet many important characters for the first time and forge key relationships.
A report from Variety last July stated that Rocksteady were developing a silver age prequel and that it would feature the Batman's first meeting with the Joker and would also include several members of the Justice League. This looks like that game. It had become clear that Variety may have got their wires crossed about who was making the game but hopefully that gives you just a little bit more incite into what is going on in the game. Oh and before people get too upset, this isn't WBG Montreal's fist dip into the franchise. They produced the Arkham City: Armoured edition for the Wii U so they are not total new comers to the series. The real question now is if Rocksteady are currently working on another Arkham game or if they have moved onto to other things. Time will tell.
