Capcom Finally Announce New Resident Evil For PS4

But what... what the hell is this?!

By Scott Tailford /

What do the millions of Resident Evil fans in the world want? A bit less gunplay, and bit more exploration, and a good plot tying it all together, right? It's not much to ask, and so Capcom have unveiled... Umbrella Corps, a dedicated online third-person shooter. Because of course they have.Just look at that absolute mess of a corporately-mandated game. Every bit of it is the most phoned-in spreadsheet-verified concoction of crap code seen in quite some time. The very notion of taking a series positively brimming with great characters, atmosphere and narrative possibilities, only to then throw it away and create an offshoot franchise so Capcom can get in on the Call of Duty/Battlefield crowd, is just utterly deflating. There'll no doubt be DLC maps, microtransaction bonuses for specific weapon loadouts and some sort of currency you can put real money into to buy more equipment. Just wait and see, they'll be there. Fans wondering exactly where things were going to go following Resi 6 now have their answer, as no longer does it appear as though the developer are going to admit their misguided mistakes, but instead double down on them. The next Resident Evil-themed game on the horizon is this, and that's one hell of a depressing sentence to read. What do you make of the trailer?
