Dragon Age 4: Those Recent Rumours Aren't What You Think

Is everyone ready for Dragon 4ge Day?

News about Dragon Age 4 has been sparse but buzzworthy, with the biggest drops of information coming from the 2018 #DreadWolfRises trailer and the recent confirmation by BioWare that they're working on the game earlier in 2019.

Some sites have, however, picked up on BioWare's latest post about "Dragon 4ge Day" (which you'll pronounce as Dragon Forge Day in your head, probably) on their Facebook and Twitter.

Many speculate that it's meant to be a tease for a massive lore drop for Dragon Age 4, which likely won't be out until 2022 at the earliest, since it only recently restarted production after an apparent cancellation some years earlier.

However, it's not quite that shocking or unusual to see BioWare hail this day, given that Dragon 4ge Day is in reference to the fan-created Unofficial Dragon Age Day, which takes place on December 4.

Similar to the Mass Effect celebration N7 Day (which takes place on November 7 every year), nothing official is tied to this day (as implied by the name), and with a lack of new content to release apart from the already highly anticipated Tevinter Nights story anthology and the upcoming Fenris-centric comic, Blue Wraith, both dropping in 2020, BioWare seems to simply be saluting fans for creating such a massive holiday based around their game.

This isn't to say they WON'T release any information about Dragon Age 4 on Dragon 4ge Day, since their ten year anniversary holds some significance for the franchise overall. It's just that the date's significance goes well beyond any plans BioWare may have, with fans making up the hype independently and getting everyone - from artists to cosplayers to writers, and even the enthusiastic, fan-loving developers in on the craze.

It would certainly be amazing if BioWare canonised this fan-generated holiday by dropping something big and noteworthy about their long-anticipated upcoming fantasy franchise's next installment, but it's also likely that BioWare is simply celebrating the ramp up towards their own fourth installment and the enthusiasm of fans, with the game still in pre-production stages.

For fans of the franchise, however, there's still a lot to be excited about, with the Unofficial DADay Twitter readying their own involved celebration with special messages for the developers and an ongoing countdown any fans anticipating new content can follow on social media. You could also follow devs at BioWare such as lead writer Patrick Weekes, but unfortunately (and hilariously), they're pretty tight lipped about spoilers - but certainly open about LEGO reviews.
