Technology is rapidly embracing the medium of game applications, with an average price tag of $1 who can really complain about the onslaught of mobile gaming apps? However, there is something to be said when the application Draw Something at a mere 5 weeks old, is generating the developer OMGPOP six figures a day and sits at 20 million sold. Draw Something is essentially a version of Pictionary for your phone. You're given a set of words and choose one of the options. Then connect onto Facebook and the image you draw is sent to a friend with the app who then has to guess what you've drawn. In a world where technology grants us distractions from the things we're trying to do, I see no better way than stopping to draw a cupcake. Dan Porter the CEO of OMGPOP was quoted as saying, "It's the number one app in 79 countries -- I can't even name 79 countries!" With 40 people on the company's team it's needless to say that in order to stay on the heels of the growth of the company, copious amounts of caffeine are flowing in their veins as we speak. With users producing more than 1 billion drawings, and an average of 3,000 pictures being created per second on March 11th, it will be interesting to see what OMGPOP create next.
