Last year's E3 demo for Far Cry 3 revealed to us a man, Jason Brody, trapped on an island full of insanity. As he struggled to survive we learned that the pirate leader Vaas, loves to describe the definition of insanity to people, and does so in an extremely creepy way. As the team for Far Cry 3 took the stage this year they assured us that the island has changed Jason. He is no longer the struggling tourist fighting for his life. Jason has evolved into something far more deadly. A woman produces sensual sounds as Jason stares up at her grabbing on to her more pronounced aspects of her biography. This could easily be taken as a cheap attempt to take advantage of sexuality for attention, but understanding that Far Cry 3 is showing you what it means to be a part of the jungle it seems that if they refrain from an excess it could be relevant to the story. Especially if you pay attention to the closing of the demo. The mysterious native woman appears to be providing you with the boost of confidence you need, as she reminds you exactly of what you have become. Jason stands, turning to a group of warriors. As they rise, he declares that they will not stop until Vaas is dead. Uproarious cheers echo into the night. Cutting to Jason in the jungle, he peers over the gorgeously rendered islands and whispers, "I'm comin' for you Vaas." Jason dives into the water. Assaulting the compound where Vaas is hiding provides some excellent gameplay footage. Far Cry 3 has certainly followed up their 2011 stage demo strongly, but we will have to wait to see how the game turns out in September.
