So, remember that little old rumour that was doing the rounds a few weeks ago? About a potential Spider-Man game coming to PS4? Well, Sony only went and confirmed it yesterday, and boy, it's pretty much everything I've wished for.

Developed by Insomniac games (the studio behind the critically acclaimed Ratchet and Clank franchise), this as of yet untitled Spidey title depicts the wall-crawler in a new light, doing away with the shackles of a cinematic universe and instead taking a far more comics-inspired approach to the license, just like we said it would.

The trailer only showed us a couple of minutes of footage, peppered with both cutscenes and clips from actual gameplay. So far it all looks immense, teasing players with open world interiors, web-based combat, some intense action sequences, and, of course, that open world everyone was hoping for.

No release date has been announced just yet, but we'll be sure to let you know if one comes around in the future. Regardless, what a way to start E3!
