Yes, there were notable absences from their short-but-sweet show, but they certainly did a fantastic job hyping up several major upcoming releases, and pushed the fanboy buttons hard with the announcement of two long-awaited titles for Nintendo Switch.

Did Nintendo just "win" E3? Despite persistent rumours that Super Smash Bros. for Switch would make its long-awaited debut during Nintendo's E3 Spotlight, the show came and went without the highly anticipated beat 'em up making a peep.

Animal Crossing fans were also left wanting, as though online rumours have pointed to Nintendo prepping an Animal Crossing for the Switch, it was in fact nowhere to be seen.

They're surely going to arrive sooner rather than later, but this would've been the perfect time to whip fans into a frenzy and win E3 right out of the gate, especially as Nintendo's competition didn't exactly have mind-blowing conferences this year.

The wait continues...
