E3 Rumour: Heavy Rain Developer Set to Reveal New Game?

Heavy Rain developer set to announce new project at E3?

By Matt Mann /

A rumour popped up today that we really hope to be true. Reports are that the makers of Heavy Rain may announce their next game at this upcoming E3. David Cage, the founder of Quantic Dream will be at E3 to announce the new game that he and his team have been working on since the release of Heavy Rain. There is also some speculation that Quantic Dream is working on two games both Sony exclusives, but it is not know whether the games will both be released for the PS3 or their next generation console. It has been a while since Heavy Rain was released and Quantic Dream has spent most of that time building a new game engine because according to Cage the Heavy Rain engine was not cutting it:
"There were so many things we couldn't do with our Heavy Rain engine, so we decided to build a new one,"
Earlier this year we got a taste of what the new engine could do when Cage showed off a short animated movie called Kara: http://youtu.be/DKA_l1KBhEA However, he did say that the animated movie had nothing to do with the game that Quantic Dream is working on. In addition, we also know that the game is not a sequel to Heavy Rain and knowing David Cage the game will most likely be story driven and cinematic. I loved Heavy Rain even though it did have flaws, it was one of the most unique games released in the past ten years. This is still just a rumor at this point, and Sony has made no comment so we are just going to have to wait a week to see if the rumor will hopefully be true.
