Another EA game has been removed from the American digital distributor STEAM. Dragon Age IIhas been removed after EA added the new downloadable content Legacy to it. Apparently, at least one of the reasons EA games keep getting removed from STEAM has to do with the fact certain aspects of the downloadable content are breaking the STEAM terms of agreement, so STEAM is removing them. The DLC for EA games is purchasable inside the game of Dragon Age II and according to EA this breaks a terms of service.
"Unfortunately, Steam has adopted a set of restrictive terms of service which limit how developers interact with customers to sell downloadable content. No other download service has adopted this practice. Consequently some of our games have been removed by Steam."
Now whether EA is doing this intentionally to get STEAM to stop selling their games is up for debate but what I do know is there are a lot of unhappy STEAM users who might be missing out on some future great EA games. Mass Effect 3 or Battlefield 3 anyone? Will this affect any of your buying habits, will you stop buying EA games on STEAM for fear of them removing the game?
