EA Sports Initiates a Subscription Program, Starting With MADDEN 12
EA made the announcement today that they will be starting a premium subscription service for gamers set at an annual fee of $24.99 (2000 Microsoft Points) but is it really worth it?
"It's a completely additive program; we're not taking anything away from the game and we're going to continue to build and invest in feature, content-rich experiences on the disc, It's a value-add and doesn't take away anything from the gamer who just wants to play the same way they've always have."The Season Ticket program will start with Madden 12 and future titles NHL, PGA Tour, NCAA Football, and FIFA will get the program as they are released. However, it should be noted that even though you get a three day early release of the game, you will still need to go to a store and purchase it; these sports titles will not be offered as downloadable games.
"This is for core gamers who are already buying the game at retail and giving them the opportunity to play it three days earlier,"Honestly you would have to be pretty hardcore with these sports titles to want to put the extra money in for what is being offered. I would not recommend purchasing this annual membership unless you have to play the game three days early; or spend enough money on downloadable content to make the discount worth it. Does this program sound enticing to anyone out there? Season Ticket PS3 and Xbox 360: Available today in North America, and Xbox 360 in Europe, Australia and New Zealand.
