Every August 2019 Video Game - Ranked By Anticipation
The next game from the Max Payne developers, anyone?
After a madcap first quarter, things slowed down considerably in the following months of 2019. Certainly, there were big franchise entries scattered across the months, plus a couple of big console exclusives... but where the heck was that fresh and exciting new IP?
August is the month where that trend turns around. We're seeing some electrifying new titles coming out from beloved studios/creators with them all gambling big and risky.
Remedy Entertainment has broke their Xbox exclusive clause to bring us an exciting and bizarre new shooter, Supermassive Games breaks theirs bring us a new interactive horror game (with co-op to boot). Add to that new games from Double Fine Games, Gunfire Games, Crytek, Patrice Desilets, Platinum Games and even a remaster of an old FromSoftware cult-classic not available outside of Japan for 15 years.
If you've been dreaming of new IP from top-notch studios, August is your month - take a chance and vote with your wallet on scores of fresh video games, as the industry well and truly kicks back into gear.
28. Aritana And The Twin Masks
Release Date: August 16th
Platforms: Xbox One
Based on Brazilain mythology in an enticing fantasy tale, unfortunately everything from the promos has this reeking of a fairly standard 3D adventure with graphics you're more likely to find as an Xbox 360 launch game than a cutting-edge current console exclusive.
We've seen it before; a young warrior goes off on an adventure to solve several puzzles and fight monsters. Perhaps there's a resulting better game, but as is, the promos haven't done much to sell it so far...
