Peter Molyneux announced today that he is leaving Microsoft and the video game development studio he helped create Lionhead Studios. Molyneux is most famous for creating Black & White and the Fable series. He is also very famous in video game circles for promising more than he can usually deliver on with his games. He made a couple of statements today first on twitter:

"I have left the lovely amazing Microsoft and Lionhead. Now for something really amazing, scary and brave a new company called 22 Cans."
He also made a statement to reporters earlier in the day:
"It is with mixed emotions that I made the decision to leave Microsoft and Lionhead Studios, the company that I co-founded in 1997, at the conclusion of development of Fable: The Journey."
It remains to be seen if Lionhead Studio will remain a viable gaming studio without Molyneux at the head of the company (although some might say the company is better off without him). Also, it will be interesting to see what will become of the Fable franchise; will Lionhead Studio continue to produce the games or will they finally move on to a new franchise? In addition, there is not much known about 22 Cans other than a statement on the official website: "A great team with a great idea leads to a great success."
