A few things are certain when FIFA 19 lands later this month.
Ultimate Team will take precedence over Career Mode, some of EA's hyped-up features will prove themselves to be background noise and cover man Cristiano Ronaldo will be one of the highest-rated players in the game. Is this fair? Well, yes. CR7 is legitimately a world great, and his rating should reflect that.
Then, there's Neymar, another man who has been used as a promotional tool in the lead up to release. PSG's 'whizz kid' no longer fits that nickname. He's 26 years old. Those guys deserve their lofty status. Others don't, and their ratings must be lowered.
EA's ratings system can be a bit unpredictable at times. Whilst top-tier players like Ronaldo, Neymar and Lionel Messi warrant scores in the mid-90s, others skirt dangerously close to them despite being in the twilight of their careers or having poor seasons. It's time to put that right before the top three or four drift ominously closer to the middle of the pack rather than standing out on their own...
