Originally named €˜Championship Manager€™ and first launched in 1992, the data contained in the Football Manager series has always been painstakingly accurate; it€™s the main selling point of the brand. Just like football itself, it isn€™t €˜just a game€™; it€™s a second €“ yet equally important €“ life.

Yes, it is only a game in the literal sense, but in terms of providing the user with a professional, dynamic and incredibly scientific learning experience, it€™s an education. But, if you weren't an avid football fan (I know, it would be awful wouldn't it?) and you just fancied a whirl on the unexplainably beautiful simulation series then there are a few red herrings you must watch out for.

A handful of the talented players on Football Manager would get you into a spot of bother if you tried to tried to right click and paste them into real life appreciative pub-talk. It is hard enough to stomach any defeat on the game but if the player who just scored a hat-trick against you in the FA Cup Semi-Final hasn't played well for five-months in real life then not only is it tear-worthy but things will get thrown.
