Fortnite Battle Royale: 9 Simple Features To Make It Better Than PUBG

Winning needs to be worth it.

Despite being out for less than a year, PlayerUnknown's BattleGrounds has quickly become one of the biggest gaming phenomenons of the decade. Throwing a hundred players into a massive open world and making them find the tools they need to survive and fend off against everyone else, the game has set the bar for the battle royale genre going forward.

With few other imitators arising since it took the world by storm, the early access game Fortnite staked its own claim to the genre in September 2017. The first time console players have been able to get a taste of this battle royale style of gameplay, the title has become a huge overnight success, but it's not a PUBG killer... yet.

Clearly being cobbled together by taking the core elements of BattleGrounds and smashing them with the combat system that already existed in Fortnite's PvE mode, Battle Royale is very much a foundation and a stepping stone for a more robust game to come.

What's already there is great as a starting point, but if developers at Epic Games and People Can Fly want the title to have the same longevity and impact as PUBG, it needs to make some radical changes and improvements in the months to come.

9. Weapon Attachments To Even The Playing Field

There isn't much weapon variety in Fortnite, which can be a real pain for players who like to keep on the outskirts of matches rather than looting major cities. Because while finding the best guns is already a difficult task, finding weapons that have additional attachments is even harder.

Even worse, these weapon add-ons are unbalanced at the moment, as the already powerful assault rifles or sniper rifles come with scopes that make them even deadlier. To even the playing field a bit, these attachments should be able to be found in the world itself, making all the weapons fully customisable in the process.

Not only would it add more variety to the game, but it would also make every player more of a danger. While people rocking grenade launchers and rare assault rifles could still dominate, a crafty player with a common machine gun but a long range scope would still stand a chance of taking them out.

Finding different attachments in the world would make exploration even more valuable, and would only make firefights even more interesting.
