2023 has been a fantastic year for gaming, and one reason it'll be celebrated for years to come is finally putting Grand Theft Auto fans out of their misery by officially announcing the sixth game, currently due to release on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in 2025.
Indeed, Grand Theft Auto VI is real, and while its glorious first trailer certainly looks incredible, Rockstar has remained characteristically vague about the wider details, which will presumably be slow-bled to fans over the next two years of its marketing cycle.
And as beloved as the franchise is, and as much of a sales juggernaut as GTA V continues to be, there's also plenty of room for improvement. GTA V is a fantastic game albeit one that didn't nail everything it set out to do, and even felt like a blatant step back from previous titles in some respects.
But if Rockstar have spent the last decade-plus well, they'll deliver fully on GTA VI's promises by remedying these nagging issues from the previous game. And even if not, let's be honest - it's gonna sell like hotcakes regardless...
10. Single-Player DLC
Despite GTA IV boasting two extremely successful and well-received pieces of single-player DLC - The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony - GTA V didn't release a single sliver of downloadable content for its campaign.
Given the popularity of the game's offline component, that was a huge bummer to those with minimal interest in GTA Online, especially considering the obvious potential to expand the storytelling canvas.
Rockstar's official explanation is that single-player DLC never happened due to their time being taken up by porting the game to next-gen platforms, managing GTA Online, and developing Red Dead Redemption 2.
All the same, it can't help but feel like a missed opportunity, and while there's every possibility that Rockstar will simply double down on this approach and follow the multiplayer money for GTA VI, fans can only hope they've optimised their operation this time around and have carved out time to produce campaign DLC.
