Grand Theft Auto 5 will launch on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox 720 "eventually", according to Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter and a report on Video Gamer. The analyst also debunked any claims GTA would be a PS4 launch title this holiday season, amid growing speculation as to the delay of the game until September, which some critics claimed suspiciously tied in with the release of next generation consoles. Speaking on whether he thought Rockstar's latest crime epic would be making an appearance on next generation consoles, he said:
"Eventually. Not at launch. "If you go back to the PlayStation 3 E3, the 06 E3, they showed Red Dead Redemption, remember? What year did that bad boy come out? 2010? It only took four years, and it was shown, it was shown during a launch event. So that's about the pace I think Rockstar is on. I think Rockstar will have a game before the PS5."
Pachter is now the second analyst this month to predict a next-gen release for Grand Theft Auto 5. On February 1st, Cowen & Company analyst Doug Creutz speculated that Rockstar's parent company Take-Two "may have plans to eventually publish GTA V on the next set of consoles" in order to lessen the impact next-gen console sales could have on any future downloadable content releases planned for the PS3 and Xbox 360 version of the game. So far, Rockstar themselves have only confirmed GTA 5 for release on current generation consoles, while it is rumoured that a PC version is also in development. GTA 5 releases on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on September 17th, 2013.
