Hands-On: HTC Vive Vs. PlayStation VR - 7 Key Aspects Compared

We go hands-on with these two VR pioneers and pit them headset-to-headset.

After spending some time with the HTC Vive and PlayStation VR (formerly known as Project Morpheus) headsets at EGX 2015, I can now say with confidence that I've seen into the future. The two devices were essentially high-tech crystal balls, and looking into them gave me complete clarity on the direction video games are going in. The future looks immersive, stereoscopic, and at times, a little scary. Calling this a 'vs' feature makes this comparison sound more competitive than is actually the case. Speaking with both camps at EGX 2015, I was impressed by how complementary they were about each other's work. Behind the scenes, the developers of both headsets are exchanging ideas with each other, discussing what works and what doesn't, and working together to ensure that when we step into this new dimension of gaming, it'll be great for everyone no matter which console they're on.Nonetheless, even though the Vive and PS VR aren't in direct competition with each other, it's fascinating to see where each of the headsets succeeds and fails. Do the more advanced sensors in the Vive mean that the bulkier headset become awkward to wear over long periods of time? I compare both of these brilliant headsets in key areas, and discuss why everyone should be excited about what€™s in store.
