Mech-mash-em-up Hawken has been around for donkeys years. It's always been loads of fun, totally bad*ss and, most importantly, free to play. Finally, after fans have been praying for years, it's finally getting a good spring clean and coming to Xbox One and PS4 this July.

Big, walking death machines going at it, all covered in guns and rockets. Jetpacks! There's absolutely nothing not to love about this.

The console ports are being developed by the original Hawken team at Reloaded Games, who've been making these robotic grudge matches possible since late 2012.

Producer Josh Clausen has even gone into detail about the Hawken story and lore for new players who'll be getting their first taste when the game drops. He goes into quite some detail and it's all over at PS BLOG.

For those just lusting for explosions, the development team also released a short gameplay video. Hawken will arrive on Xbox One on July 1 and PS4 on July 8. We'll see you on the battlefield.
