The game follows an ordinary girl who is forced on a bizarre and heart-wrenching adventure that transcends time itself, with the lives of many hanging in the balance. It was genuinely unique, letting you rewind time to explore multiple conversation options in any interaction, thereby putting a fresh spin on its genre, but still making it feel like each decision truly mattered in one way or another.

With E3 finally over, Life Is Strange fans were ecstatic when a trailer for the next addition to the series, Life Is Strange: Before the Storm, debuted during the Xbox showcase. Along with the trailer, the game's developers were happy to answer questions and show off copious footage. Several screenshots have also been released and the game is currently available for pre-order, set to be released for Xbox One, PS4 and PC on the 31st of August 2017.

So, let's take a closer look at exactly everything that has been made public about the game thus far, with a bit of healthy speculation thrown into the mix.

12. It's A Prequel

As the title of the game implies, Life Is Strange: Before the Storm will serve as a prequel to the original game, taking place several years before the massive storm that threatened to destroy all of Arcadia Bay was even an issue.

Throughout the first Life Is Strange, we are constantly receiving clues, be it through exposition or offhanded comments, as to exactly what had been going on in the town in between the time Max moved away and when she returned. Therefore, Before the Storm is going to delve deeper in to those details and we will be able to fill in the blanks first-hand.

Moreover, this prequel is likely also meant to serve as a way to tide fans over until more info is released on the Life Is Strange sequel, the existence of which had been confirmed by Dontnod some time ago. Considering that it's been heavily implied that the Life Is Strange 2 will focus on all-new characters in a different setting, a prequel does feel like a nice way to bookend the story of Arcadia Bay and put it to a definitive rest.
