It's true, Solid Snake has apparently lost his touch in Hideo Kojima's most recent installment. Failing to find a home on the UK all formats top 40 chart, it has effectively been beaten out by seven older 3DS titles. With the only titles debuting on the top 40 chart being Mass Effect 3 at No.1, Street Fighter X Tekken at No.3, The Sims 3: Showtime at No.6, and Unit 13 at No.15, there was no shortage of game purchasing recently. Falling behind titles such as Mario Kart 7 and Super Mario 3D Land, it leaves us to ponder what happened to our beloved Solid Snake? Despite a great mix of reviews including an average Metascore of 80 from a total of 24 reviews, the game still fell short. Could this be a falling out of popularity for the title, or more a result of the platform it's on? The concept of porting the original Playstation 2 title over to the capability of the Nintendo 3DS would seem to be a great idea. The lushness of the jungle Solid Snake finds himself in could be brought to life in an entirely new way. However, with the recent HD overhaul for PS3 and Xbox 360, it may just be a case of overkill. Do you feel it's a case of overkilling the series with releases, or could it be the Nintendo 3DS platform? I'm curious to hear your thoughts.
