It feels like only yesterday that Injustice 2 was released, but the hype train is already barrelling towards NetherRealm's next presumed title, Mortal Kombat 11.

Creative Director Ed Boon has been teasing fans on Twitter for a while now and, given the usual two-year development gap, it seems a reveal could be on the horizon.

Good guest characters are like a surprise cameo in a Marvel movie; the cherry on top of the cake. And NeatherRealm's games have become renowned for hosting incredible guest characters, from Jason Vorhees to Freddy Kreuger, Hellboy to the Ninja Turtles.

Even though they come as DLC, fans get as excited - if not more - for guest cameos as they do the staples of the series. The addition of these pop culture icons helps make the game feel relevant, giving it a longer tail after release. Not to mention, playing as Alien or Predator makes for a great entry point for your non-gamer friend.

Let us know which guest characters you want to see in Mortal Kombat 11, and as for now, we've rounded-up a pretty gruesome cast of characters.

7. Ash

Has there ever been a better game for Ash to appear in?

Ash Williams, the greatest demon-slaying mortal to have ever survived hell, spans five movies, a TV show, comics, and a documentary.

Ash has cemented himself as a horror legend, and, as is often the case with the greatest horror movie characters, Williams has transcended the genre and the Evil Dead franchise into pop culture icon status.

As for gameplay mechanics? ASH HAS A CHAINSAW! Yes, you already know that, but it bears repeating and exclaiming. Oh, and a shotgun for good measure. It's pretty easy to see how Ash fits into the Mortal Kombat world, with ranged and close-up combat options. The cult status surrounding Bruce Campbell's beloved character, and the obvious gameplay mechanics, makes him a perfect fit for Mortal Kombat 11.
