Scheduled for an April 14th release and coming off of the back of the hugely successful Mortal Kombat reboot and Injustice: Gods Among Us, NetherRealm studios' Mortal Kombat X has had unprecedented hype since it was announced. Ed Boon and co. have been very clever with teasing things, both through social media and reveals at trade shows or tournaments, ensuring excitement continues to grow about the next chapter in the Mortal Kombat saga - with plenty of speculation and debate prompted on social media platforms and gaming websites along the way. So far it's confirmed the new game will have a roster of at least 24 characters both old and new (so far they've announced four new Kombatants and six classics) and that the story will take place over a 25 year span; features include the return of X-ray attacks, the introduction of Injustice's interactive environment system, each character having three stylistic variations and of course, a new set of some of the most gruesome fatalities the series has produced yet. But the previous instalment of the series introduced a new concept to the canon; guest fighters. This reboot of Mortal Kombat introduced playable versions of Kratos from God of War (as a Playstation exclusive) and Freddy Krueger; and with Ed Boon himself tweeting out a picture of Scorpion facing off against The Predator it has lead to much speculation as to who else might be in line for a guest spot. More importantly to MK purists though, it's fun to guess at what their special moves and fatalities could be too.
