Valve announced today that they will be releasing Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, an updated title that will be released next year on Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network, PC, and Mac. The game is already listed on Steam and should be released early 2012 (tentative). Valve stated:
"CS: GO features new maps, characters, and weapons and delivers updated versions of the classic CS content (de_dust, etc.). In addition, CS: GO will introduce new gameplay modes, matchmaking, leader boards, and more. For the past 12 years, it has continued to be one of the most-played games in the world, headline competitive gaming tournaments and selling over 25 million units worldwide across the franchise. CS: GO promises to expand on CS' award-winning gameplay and deliver it to gamers on the PC as well as the next gen consoles and the Mac."
The game is being created by Valve in-conjunction with Hidden Path Entertainment and will be shown at PAX Prime this month and the Eurogamer Expo 2011. Is this going to be a day one purchase for people or is everybody still going to be playing Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3?
