It's been eight years since we last saw the odd little Pikmin creatures let loose in their very own game, but Nintendo have recently pleased fans by announcing that they're hard at work on a follow up. Pikmin 3 is being developed exclusively for the upcoming Wii U console and will utilise all of the systems unique features - including full use of its tablet style controllers. Speaking to Spanish newspaper El Mundo, Nintendo's head honcho Shigeru Miyamoto spoke briefly about Pikmin 3, revealing that it's set to make a debut appearance at this year's E3 in June. Nintendo have since confirmed his comments, saying "In a recent interview, Mr. Miyamoto confirmed that a new Pikmin game will be shown at the E3 Expo in June". Nintendo further added that "He believes that anyone who has played Pikmin games in the past will enjoy playing." The news comes hot on the heels of the announcement that Mario is also on his way to the Wii U, potentially in the form of a Super Mario Bros 4. Pikmin was first released for the Nintendo GameCube in 2001, quickly building a loyal fanbase thanks to its unique strategy gameplay and colourful graphics. It was followed up by Pikmin 2 in 2004, which is often considered by many to be one of the greatest Nintendo games of all time.
