PlayStation State Of Play July 2021: 5 Biggest Announcements

The closest thing to a PlayStation E3 conference we're gonna get.

State of Play is the PlayStation equivalent of a Nintendo Direct.

They're bite-size presentations that give us new game reveals and more information on titles that have already been announced. State of Play is likely the reason that PlayStation no longer goes to E3.

Why rush to get everything looking good for an event that costs money to present at when you can just create your own presentation?

It's good that PlayStation didn't show this off at E3, don't get me wrong there were a lot of cool games shown off here, but in comparison to Microsoft and Nintendo's E3 showing, this is laughable. But that's ok, this isn't E3, State of Play isn't competing with anything.

This specific presentation advertised itself as showing off third-party games, indies, and seven minutes of Deathloop footage. Yep, that's exactly what this was, the presentation showed all of that off, mostly focusing on giving us information on titles that were already announced. There were a couple of exciting new announcements, though.

Let's go through the most exciting new information shown in this presentation.

5. Moss Book II

One of the new announcements from this State of Play was Moss: Book II for PlayStation VR.

A sequel to one of the better PlayStation VR games, Moss, Moss: Book II once again puts you in the tiny shoes of Quill the mouse as you fight against enemies that are much bigger than you.

The original Moss is one of the best PlayStation VR titles, a charming action-platformer that utilises the technology in a very unique way.

Usually Virtual Reality games are first-person, Moss is third-person showing that all kinds of games can be enhanced by VR. Yeah, it might have worked without it, but the fact that it uses the technology really helps make you feel like a part of Quill's world.

Moss: Book II seems to be taking that idea and giving us more of it. It appears to be a charming second adventure for you and Quill to go on which to be honest is all that it needs to be.

No release date has been given yet for Moss: Book II but you can watch the trailer below if you want to know more.
