PS4 Locked Your Games Library? Konami Are Responsible

The removal of P.T. from the PlayStation Store is causing a licensing glitch.

Things have been bubbling over at Konami towers for a while now, but this is something else. If you're not up to speed on the current happenings, there's reportedly a personal feud going on between Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima and the powers that be at the top of Konami. The latter 30 year-strong titan of the industry has been increasingly getting into gambling machines and sports equipment over the years, but until 2015 have never put a major foot wrong gaming-wise. All that changed when the 'Kojima vs. Konami' saga spilt out into peoples' homes, as the twin-developed (with Guillermo del Toro) Silent Hills teaser P.T. was pulled from Sony's servers last month as some attempt to eradicate all of Kojima's involvement in anything - only for the PS4's inbuilt license-checking protocols to lock your game library when it can't find the original file. This essentially means that if you ever had P.T. on your system, your library is at risk of completely locking up; despite you literally owning everything that's on there, and P.T. being a free giveaway in the first place.

How widespread the issue ends up becoming remains to be seen, but multiple users are already reporting lock symbols appearing on their systems. Some home remedies are resetting the system or going in and out of the PlayStation Store - but either way it's up to Sony to rectify the problem as soon as possible. P.T. was many peoples' most enjoyable experience last year due to its unique and inventive design, and it's a real shame that after so much positive press the entire thing appears to be going up in flames because some of the most influential creative minds can't get along. Let us know in the comments if you've experienced this, and what solutions you've found to get around it!
