RAINBOW 6 PATRIOTS Announced
Game expected to revolve around an American terrorist group and will have a "dynamic single player story line with multiple playable characters."
confirmed a new Rainbow 6 game was on the way and is being developed by Ubisoft Montreal and will be supported by Ubisoft Toronto and Red Storm. The game will be called Rainbow 6 Patriots and according to Ubisoft will have a "dynamic single player story line with multiple playable characters." The return of the long dormant tactical shooter Tom Clancy franchise seemed obvious when last week Ubisoft registered the urls Rainbow6Patriots.com and RainbowSixPatriots.com. The games setting has not yet been confirmed (we heard it would be New York); however the story was slightly discussed. Team Rainbow will be taking on a terrorist group called "The True Patriots" who were described as:
"highly-trained, well-organized revolutionary group that claim the American government is irrevocably corrupted by greedy politicians and corporate special interests."David Sears, creative director at Ubisoft said this about the game:
"Terrorism has evolved, and so has Rainbow 6, In Tom Clancy's Rainbow 6 Patriots, all the team play, tactics, and realism that fans of the series love have been coupled with an exciting new narrative direction. This adds an unprecedented level of humanity that will make Tom Clancy's Rainbow 6 Patriots an extremely tense and immersive experience."Interestingly, Koktau reported earlier this year that the Tom Clancy series was about to make a comeback with a more story based tale revolving around an American terrorist group who attempted to take down New York City over greed of Wall Street and the government that acts to protect them, which is more or less the plot used in the recent Taking of Pelham 123 remake with John Travolta and Denzel Washington. Potentially a controversial story but one that sounds like a neat shift in the usual international locale game. Now for the bad news, I got you all excited for a new Rainbow 6 game that will be launching on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC in 2013. Yep that is right, Rainbow 6 Patriots will not be released for another 2 years! Well at least we finally have news of the next Rainbow 6 game, it has been a while since we have heard anything new from the franchise.
