Resident Evil 2: 15 Tips & Tricks The Game Doesn't Tell You
Best way to down a Licker is with... a knife?!
As utterly glorious to play as it was to watch unfold across various previews, Capcom's remake of Resident Evil 2 is every bit as glorious and "Holy sh*t, they nailed this", as Resident Evil 1's remake in 2002.
Opting not only to completely redo the game's visuals, including swapping out Leon and Claire's hand-drawn character models for real-world body and face scans, this level of detail extends to how they've re-approached the combat and game world overall. Jumping from the PS1 original to this, immediately you notice a more considered introduction with a defined character focus - one that segues into a police station housing intelligently redesigned combat zones and puzzles from top to bottom.
Even the very nature of something like this tutorial area has been given an in-world reason for its ridiculously "video gamey" puzzles, and the way the game introduces you to the Licker? It's a chef's kiss evolution of one of gaming's most legendary enemies.
All of this, and I've barely touched on gameplay.
Playing like Resident Evil 4 through Revelations but with the tension of the original trilogy, RE2 Remake's atmosphere is everything Resident Evil 7 started to hone back in on, perfected.
