Rumour: WII U to Cost At Least $300
Will you buy a Wii U for $300 US?
"Cutting production costs to maximize profits is Nintendo's main concern with the Wii U. They are cutting costs in the Wii U's hardware to build back confidence in investors. Nintendo wants investors to view Wii U as a less risky proposition. Nintendo chose an economical GPU and CPU that could keep up with the performance of today's current consoles, but keep hardware costs down to maximize profits. Nintendo got a bargain price on the custom GPU and CPU that the Wii U uses. There is a bigger focus on downloadable content, applications, video content, digital distribution, and services to create a stream of revenue. Investors will be ecstatic with the news."A price point of around $300 US would not be too bad considering the PS3 launched at a whopping $600 US. However, if this source is true it is sounding like Nintendo may be cutting down the hardware specs to make the system cheaper and that is not good. No offense but I don't see the point of buying a system with the same amount of power as the systems many people already have. I know the first party titles, but Nintendo has yet to show any games off yet; not to mention until I see some third party exclusives the only thing people will be missing is Nintendo exclusives. Not that I won't buy the system, I generally buy all gaming consoles but I may wait until there are exclusive games that I want to buy for the Wii U. What do you think, will you buy the system right out of the gate, or will you wait until there are enough exclusive games to justify buying the system?
