Team Fortress 2: 15 Stupidest Additions So Far

£67 for a virtual wedding ring. Erm... what?!

Valve's Team Fortress 2 has survived many years. It oozes personality and boasts a roster of nine classes that are both simple to learn, yet complex and difficult to master - all with a vast selection of creative and balanced weapons for each one. It's managed to keep peoples' attention consistently since 2007, with a thriving competitive community bolstered by a regularly increasing crowd of newcomers, all thanks to the 'Free to Play' model introduced in 2011.

Over nearly eight years it still regularly gets patches and content updates, keeping it balanced, fresh and all-around frantic fun. Very soon Valve will have released the 500th patch to the game, showing how dedicated they are to polishing it and keeping everything running smoothly (and also how dedicated they are to fixing the innumerable bugs that crawl out of the woodwork afterwards).

However, throughout these numerous updates, there have been some pretty stupid additions to the game alongside; such as the ability to start a conga line into no-man's land or having an inflatable unicorn follow you wherever you go.

It's all in the name of fun - after all, why shouldn't you be able to square-dance with the enemy team whilst getting battered across the head with a ham shank?

Still, some of this 'fun' ends up falling flat, changing the game and making it worse off as a result. Here are some of the biggest offenders that got everyone, but not in a good way.

15. Something Special For Someone Special

Those who have met their special someone during a game of Capture the Flag or a particularly saucy LAN party can now express their undying love by making their marriage official - thanks to a virtual wedding ring to wear in-game.

It’s a big gaudy thing with a gemstone the size of a squirrels head that any class can wear, which would be a very sweet thought... if it wasn’t for the fact that it costs £67. That's right, sixty-seven real pounds - or around one hundred dollars!

If a couple wants to express their love through a tiny, pointless virtual cosmetic that will almost certainly not last forever, then to each their own, but every time one is accepted in TF2 a pop-up appears to alert everyone playing on every server, which is pretty annoying - especially if you're someone already ignoring any wedding-related statuses on your Facebook feed.
