The Last Of Us Spoilers: 5 Major Plot Points Revealed

By Shaun Munro /

Word broke out yesterday that, for some reason, the demo version of The Last of Us that comes packaged with God of War: Ascension contains a list of cut-scene names that appear to spoil major plot points throughout the hugely anticipated post-apocalyptic survival horror game. It wasn't long before this list was posted online, and now, the cat very much seems to be out of the bag on some of the game's big spoilers. Those keen to look at the raw cut-scene titles can view them here, and below we've done some analysis on what they mean for the game, as well as what the more cryptic titles might actually be telling us. In some instances, we could be completely wrong, and in others, it's abundantly clear what the context means. Still, one can't help but hope Naughty Dog weren't so stupid as to actually include this code in their demo, and that it's really just an intentional swerve to stop us from guessing what really happens. And of course, if you missed the title, it goes without saying that SPOILERS ARE AHEAD, so if you want to remain fresh for June 14th, don't venture any further...

5. Ellie Is Infected At The Start Of The Game

Of the 39 cut-scenes listed, it is the 6th that simply states "Ellie Infected". Though we don't have any context for how this happens, it makes it clear that Ellie is infected at the very start of the game, perhaps before we even get to pick up the controller. Various synopses for the game suggest that something major happens to Ellie that causes Joel to help her, so perhaps this is it? The prior cut-scene is named "Ellie Joel Moment", so perhaps they first meet and then she is infected in an ensuing attack? Either way, this makes it a lot more clear as to why the government are keen to track her down - they're likely going to want to kill her, or perhaps there's a twist of some kind that she's a carrier who might be the key to curing the whole plague, and they want to experiment on her. Again, I'm just spitballing here, but what we know for sure is that Ellie does get infected early on in the game.
