The Most Underrated Video Game You Should Play RIGHT NOW
Don't let this horror game slip under the radar.
2023 was a frankly ridiculous year for games.
Fans were bombarded with massive releases seemingly every other week, and as a result you've probably still got plenty of games from last year to get through in 2024.
Well get that backlog ready because I've got yet another title to add to your pile. One that just so happens to be the best horror game of 2023.
Called Stay out of the House, this first-person horror from indie darlings Puppet Combo has actually been a long time in the making. Initially teased via a prologue entitled Night Shift back in 2018 (which we'll get to later on), PC players have seen versions of the game in early access over the past few years, before it released proper in 2022.
Me, being a Big Dumb Console Idiot, had no idea this thing even existed before randomly scrolling the recently added games tab on the PlayStation Store when it dropped on consoles in June 2023. I'm pleased I did though, because many months later, I still have the desire to play every game Puppet Combo has ever made.
Now, the plot of Stay Out of the House is simple: You're the latest victim of the Night Shift Abductor, who has taken you back to his horrible old home. Think tea-time at the Texas Chainsaw Massacre house. You wake up trapped in a cage, and have three in-game days to figure out how to escape this building. Every time you're caught by the Abductor who patrols the hallways, you wake up the next day, in a new cage, the clock ticking.
It's up to you to figure out why this menace is doing this in the first place, and maybe even rescue some other victims, if you're lucky...
