THQ Is No Longer Publishing Devil’s Third
Today once again brings bad news about THQ.
THQ confirms that the company will not be publishing Devils Third, a spokesperson said. All of the games IP rights have been returned to Itagaki-san and the Valhalla team.Devil's Third hit the scenes at E3 2012, but ever since it has been in development chaos. During a THQ earning call, the company admitted that the development team was forced to switch engines halfway through, as the original studio behind the engine went out of business. Ever since then the Devil's Third was using Relic's Colonial Space Marine engine. For a while THQ was looking for a suitable publishers to take the Devil's Third brand, but no suitors were found.
"When we ranked all of our product releases when we underwent our restructuring, the profitability of Devil's Third wasn't comparable with our other franchises," Brian Farrell said.This update on Devil's Third serves as another reminder of the state that THQ is in. On Monday, the company elected to reverse stock in an attempt to stay in the stock market. The company has only two games coming out this holiday season, Darksiders 2 and WWE 13. Most of the THQ's catalogue is scheduled of the fiscal 2013 year with games like South Park, Metro: Last Light. Even though games like Devil's Third are not being published, the company is still in developing AAA games like Homefront 2 which is developing by Crytek. Source: IGN
