True Crime: Hong Kong Re-Branded as Sleeping Dogs

Earlier last year Activision announced that development on True Crime: Hong Kong would be shut down. However, Square-Enix came along and rescued the game by purchasing the rights to the title. Square-Enix didn't buy the rights to the True Crime: Hong Kong name, so the game would have to be re-branded. Today Square-Enix London Studios announced the new name of True Crime: Hong Kong going forward would be Sleeping Dogs. The game is still being developed by the original development team United Front Games, however Square-Enix London Studios is overseeing the project. Here is what the United Front€™s Stephen Van Der Mescht had to say about working together on the title:
€œWorking on Sleeping Dogs has been such a huge passion for the team at United Front Games and we€™re really pleased to be working with Square Enix London Studios, The extensive experience both our studios have in creating compelling openworld gameplay and rich and rewarding combat makes for a perfect partnership. Working together we can make sure that Sleeping Dogs is the most intense and immersive experience it can be"
For those who don't know Sleeping Dogs is a "gritty, open-world cop drama" set in Hong Kong that includes "intense shoot-outs, adrenaline-fuelled street races and intense, brutal martial arts combat". I have actually been looking forward to the game because so few video games are set outside the United States, I want to see what United Front Games can do with a Hong Kong setting.
