Here's some fascinating news. Barely a week after E3 finished and we are hearing some interesting rumblings around one of the shows biggest surprise announcements. Ubisoft, who managed to impress audiences with its fantastic demo for the game Watch Dogs, might be planning a movie based on the title. This rumoured news is based on a set of domain addresses registered by Ubisoft on June 14th 2012, which includes WatchDogsmovie.com, WatchDogsthemovie.com, Watch-Dogsmovie.com and Watch-Dogsthemovie.com. The games near future premise, which involves a supercomputer that controls major cities and through which anything and everyone can be hacked, seems like it would work very well as a film. Creating the two together from this early stage hopefully means that they will do a good job of making both the game and film equally strong. Earlier today we talked about the games launch. While the game is currently set to be coming to PS3, Xbox 360 and Pc in 2013, a Wii U release is less certain. Tony Key, Ubisofts senior vice president of sales and marketing, said that:
We have so many titles in development for Wii U right now that we need to keep that team focused and this is a very very ambitious game. But its not out of the question.
He also called the game very very ambitious, saying:
Theres so much more that you guys still havent seen, Thats why I say its very, very ambitious. Some of the things that they have in their design right nowwish them luck that they could even get all that in there. Because that team has a vision that is beyond what weve seen before.
What do you think of this news? Would the idea behind Watch Dogs make a good movie? Should they focus on the game first? Who would you like to see involved in the movie, either acting or directing? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
